Price City Press Release

Price Fire is proud to announce that it now has a K9 as part of the department. K9 Pilot is a 13-year old lab who is retired from FEMA Urban Search and Rescue and the Unified Fire Authority in Salt Lake County. Pilot previously trained for live patient finds in rubble. Now, he will be a support K9 to members of the Price community and the city’s firefighters.

There has been a national trend to incorporate K9s with firefighters for mental health benefits. In Utah, Ogden Fire and Lehi Fire have both started programs. Pilot may be the first trained K9 to join a volunteer department and is hopefully the beginning of a longtime tradition in Price.

Pilot will join the department on training nights and special events, such as community events and station tours for children. We hope you will join us in welcoming our newest member.
