A number of establishments located in downtown Price announced temporary closures recently. The Price City Hall, USU Eastern Prehistoric Museum and Price City Library were among these locations as both the museum and library made public announcements that they would be closed on Dec. 10 due to unexpected issues.
These issues were reported to be an external power failure that impacted most of said city block beginning on Saturday, Dec. 8. Rocky Mountain Power teamed up with the city to work diligently through Monday and were able to successfully restore the power on the block on Monday evening around 8 p.m.
Upon working, it was discovered that there was 12 inches of liquid in the bottom of a vault in the inspection manhole. For safety measures, the vault was not entered until the liquid could be removed. Much of the wiring located within the vault had to be disconnected and moved out of the way in order to remove the faulty transformer and make way for the new one.
The aforementioned closed establishments were able to once more open their doors to business on Tues., Dec. 11.
