All interested parties were invited to last week’s Price City Council meeting as three public hearings were hosted during the meeting on Wednesday evening. The first hearing was to receive comment on the year-end budget revision for fiscal year 2018-19 while the second focused on the proposed transfer from the city’s electric fund to general fund. The third and final hearing was to receive comment regarding the tentative budget for fiscal year 2019-20.

Recent meetings of the Price City Council have included a focus on the city’s budget, including where and how much money is spent. Questions were asked during Wednesday’s public hearing to the council about how tax dollars are spent and how other money is put into the community. Some of the questions were easily understood and answered by members of the council and city staff. Other questions helped bring attention to some of the opinions and thoughts that community members have about Price City and its budget.

Following the conclusion of the public hearings, the council accepted motions to approve resolutions accepting the amended budget, transfer and tentative budget. All items received a favorable vote.

The Price City Council members took time to explain that they are always welcoming more people to attend the meetings every second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Price City Hall. They said that when more people attend the meetings, they can voice their opinions and ask questions as well as become more informed on what is happening in the community.

The council members expressed appreciation for the comments, explaining that they help them gain a better understanding of the city’s residents.
