The Carbon High School football team opened Region 12 play with a 41-7 home loss against Delta on Friday night.
The loss was Carbon’s first of the season.
The Dinos only touchdown came on a 15-yard pass from Dakota Cisneros to Nick Haycock. The touchdown made the score 14-7 before Delta rattled off 27 straight points over the final two-and-a-half quarters.
“We played hard, but Delta’s a good football team,” Carbon assistant coach Jeff Cisneros said. “But we’re going to bounce back. This will be a good test for the kids to see what kind of character they have.”
Cisneros said the coaching staff and team would use the loss as an inspiration to get better.
“This might have been the worst thing that could have happened for North Sanpete,” Cisneros said. “For us to get handled like that, our boys will bounce back and be ready to play. We’ve got a couple bumps and bruises that have to heal, but you’ll see our guys bounce back.”
Carbon will try to get back on the winning track on Friday at North Sanpete.
