On Tuesday, educator Phillip Evans from Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum in Salt Lake City provided fifth grade students at Cleveland Elementary an outstanding science experience.
As part of Discovery Gateway’s science outreach program, fifth grade students attended a 45-minute assembly called Reaction Time. The students then broke off into classrooms for a 30 minute hands-on lab experience. They performed chemistry experiments by mixing different solids and liquids. Students had to measure the reaction time and the physical and chemical changes to their mixture and log the results.
Reaction Time is funded by the Utah State Office of Education and is part of its iSEE Program. The Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum is located at 444 West 100 South, Salt Lake City and can be contacted at at (801) 456-5437.
