It was another slow start that doomed the Lady Panthers in their game against Grand on Saturday night. The Red Devils won the game 49-21 in the non-region affair.
Turnovers and missed layups hurt the Lady Panthers in the first half. The team managed only three points, all from the line.
In the third, Pinnacle outscored Grand 13-8 to close the gap. Grand pulled ahead in the fourth as the Panthers struggled again to put the ball through the hoop.
Coach Robert Harmon was upbeat on Monday morning after practice. “We focused on running, layups and free throws,” he said. “If we can begin hitting a few more of both layups and free throws, we will be in every game.”
Margie Syrett was top scorer for Pinnacle with nine. Raycee Birch added six, including one three point shot.
The team is on the road this week for a region match up against Whitehorse Friday night.
