2018 State Solo and Ensemble competition stock photo
On March 18, many Castle Country students with an affinity for musical talent traveled to compete in the region solo and ensemble competition.
This competition, which took place at Richfield, had a plethora of young musicians performing. Students from local high schools represented the area well and were able to place in a number of areas. The Carbon High School percussion ensemble received a top superior rating. This rating qualified the ensemble for the state solo and ensemble festival.
Jason Manchester was also able to receive a superior rating. Manchester now qualifies for state on a marimba solo. However, the ratings did not stop for the Dinos there. Dallin Nelson was also able to snag a superior rating, which qualified him to travel alongside Manchester to represent the high school at the state competition as well.
One student, Kaydee Deto, from Emery High School progresses to the state competition as well thanks to stunning flute and vocal performances.
