At the beginning of January, local Gustavo Mendoza waived his right to a preliminary hearing with the Emery County Court.
This hearing was in regards to a case in which it was alleged that Mendoza had sexual intercourse with another person without said person’s consent in the Green River area, according to Emery County Attorney Brent Langston.
Due to Mendoza waiving his right for a preliminary hearing, the court orders will bound over to the district court for an arraignment, which is the next step in the proceedings.
During the arraignment, which is scheduled for Feb. 20, it will be determined whether Mendoza is guilty or not and possible resolutions will be discussed.
