Ronald Earl Jackson

Ronald “Ron” Jackson, 65, died on April 4, 2015 surrounded by loving family, after a long battle with lung cancer.

Ron was born in Birmingham, Alabama on July 1, 1949, the 2nd of seven children, to Earl C. and Dorothy D. Gibbs-Jackson.

He went to East Carbon High School and as a senior in 1968, enlisted in the Marines, with whom he served in Vietnam and earned a Purple Heart. He Married D. Jean Rose in 1972, they had two daughters together and many years later divorced.

After the Marines, Ron worked at Horse Canyon mine until it closed. He also worked for UDOT for a number of years.

Ron loved riding his Harley, fishing, collecting Harley Davidson memorabilia and hanging out with his friends, family and little dog Maggie.

Ron is survived by his daughters: Stefani Stuebner (Luke Byrge), East Carbon, and Brandi Jackson, Price; four grandchildren: Alessa and Nathan Stuebner and Kaylee Love, East Carbon, and Courtney Jackson, Price. Also five brothers and sisters: Hilda Lynn Farnham (Frank, dec.),  Kay Leach (Bob), both of California, Bill (Becky), Wyoming, Jim (Eileen), Ephraim, and Tammy Watson (Ed), SLC. He also had 10 nieces and nephews with each of whom he had a special relationship.

Ron was preceded in death by both parents and one infant brother, Robert Dale.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service at East Carbon Community Church on Saturday, April 18th at 1:00 pm, interment at Sunnyside City Cemetary with military honors to follow.
