The Bulls at Sally Mauro Elementary School recently hosted a food drive that lasted nearly two weeks. Beginning on Nov. 8 and concluding on Nov. 17, each class participated in the drive.
Each morning, the school’s student government officers and selected class representatives would collect the donated food items from the classes. At the end of the drive, 2,215 items were collected, totaling 2,040 pounds.
Mrs. Anderson’s fifth grade class was the winning class with the most food donated. These students were awarded by being given the opportunity to throw whipped cream pies at Principal Jarad Hardy during an assembly that took placed on Nov. 21.
The student government also took time during the assembly to teach about service and helping others.
“They reminded the student body about being thankful and to look for ways we change the world with even one small act of kindness,” said student government advisor Kristina Anderson.
