On April 18, Salt Lake Medium Jo’Anne Smith hosted a spirit connection fundraiser in efforts to raise money for a Christmas Box Angel of Hope statue that will be located in Wichita Falls, Texas. The fundraiser was also presented in memory of Lauren Landavazo.
On Sept. 2, 2016, Landavazo was senselessly murdered in Wichita Falls, Texas while walking home from school with a friend. She left behind her loving parents, Vern and Bianka, her brothers Jordan and Tim, grandparents Don and Faye Landavazo, who live in Price, along with many other family members.
The Christmas Box Angel of Hope statue was first introduced in the book “The Christmas Box” by Richard Paul Evans. In this fiction book, a woman mourns the loss of her child at the base of an angel monument. A real life monument was then commissioned by Evans on Dec. 6, 1994, in response to grieving parents wanting to seek out the angel statue as a place to grieve and heal. Dec. 6 is celebrated as Children’s Day in many places across the world.
At this event, Smith wowed the crowd with her talent while connecting with people’s loved ones who have passed away. Many were touched by the event and some even found reassurance and comfort. Landavazo’s parents were even able to travel and attend the event in memory of their daughter.
A grand total of $2,991 was raised during this event. All of the proceeds will go toward the statue in Wichita Falls, Texas.
“It was my pleasure to host this event and to have Lauren’s parents from Wichita Falls, Texas here to share in these beautiful messages tonight,” stated Smith. “I’m so glad I finally got to meet Vern and Bianka Landavazo, such amazing, caring and courageous people, I consider my family now. Also, Lauren’s grandparents Don and Faye Landavazo from Price, Utah and Lauren’s uncle Randy Landavazo from Albuquerque, New Mexico shared in this special evening that will always touch my heart.”
Smith and the Landavazo family would like to thank everyone who attended the event as well as Tony Basso and Tony Basso GM, Southeastern Utah Title, Carbon Print & Design Center, Price Floral, ETV 10 News and the Sun Advocate.
“My heart is full from the beautiful messages and meeting so many people after the event,” she stated. “Thank you for allowing me to channel your loved ones.”
