With the score tied at 15, Ashton Bell came to the plate and homered, bringing home Haylee Beckstead.
Bell racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Spartans.
The two teams combined for 34 runs and 30 hits, including 11 extra base hits.
The Spartans hit five home runs in the win. Additional home runs for the Spartans came when Taylor Payne homered in the third inning while Kambrie Hinkins, Makayla Clark and Gentry Noyes homered in the seventh inning.
Even though Bell allowed seven runs over 4 2/3 innings, she still recorded the victory. Bell struck out three, walked two and gave up seven hits.
The Spartans easily handled San Juan pitching as six hitters combined for 13 hits, 15 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
Jessica Swenson couldn’t get it done on the rubber for San Juan, taking the loss. She allowed 19 runs in seven innings, walked eight and struck out eight.
San Juan jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Presley Mainard started the rally for San Juan with a single. A passed ball then moved Mainard from first to second.
San Juan matched its five-run fourth inning with five more in the sixth.
The Spartans went up for good in the seventh, scoring 13 total runs, which came home on an error, three-run blasts and two singles.
