A scheduling debacle created confusion and an interesting situation at the Heritage Days Dance after the fireworks Monday night.
No dance was scheduled for this year’s celebration, but mixed messages led to many people waiting to dance.
Huntington Mayor Hillary Gordon said, “Somehow the schedule from last year got out that advertised a dance and the little kid’s rodeo.”
Fortunately, the crowd showed their collective ingenuity and used multiple vehicles to blast music and make the most out of the situation.
Gordon said the City was sorry for the mistake, and they hope to have a full table of activities for next year’s celebration.
