An early morning accident on Highway 123 near Sunnyside Junction claimed the life of an East Carbon man. According to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. David Bennion, a Chevy Avalanche driven by Leonard Carrillo, 55, left the west side of the highway, rolling several times. Carrillo was unrestrained and ejected from the vehicle.
Lt. Bennion explained that Carrillo may have survived the accident if he had been wearing a seat belt.
An investigation is underway to determine whether Carrillo was impaired at the time of the accident.
