Emery and Green River made the short drive to Richfield on Saturday to take part in the Nyle Norris Invitational. Several Spartans and Pirates had exceptional days by scoring points for their respective squads.
Freshman Addie Hurst came in second place in the 1600. She later took seventh in the 800 meter. Fellow freshman Megan Stilson then finished in second in the high jump and eighth in the long jump. In shot put, Alexis McArthur took eighth.
The Lady Spartans took eighth overall with 23 points. North Summit led the way with 136 points followed by North Sanpete (84) and Millard (83).
In the boys’ events, Camdon Larsen took fourth in the 1600 with Jack Christiansen in fifth and Dillan Larsen in seventh. Christiansen later went on to take fifth in the 800 while Champ Justice took seventh in the 3200. Lastly, Owen Cordner came in eighth in the 400.
Richfield ended on top with a 114 score. North Summit came in second with 62 points followed by Millard in third with 61 points. Meanwhile, Emery came in 13th with 18 points.
For Green River, Jenilee Keener finished in first place in javelin while taking second in discus. That was good enough to take ninth overall with 18 points. On the boys’ side, Bridjer Meadows took sixth in the high jump and seventh in shot put. He put the Pirates in 18th place with five points.
Both teams will meet up again on Friday at Carbon High.
