Spartans Impress at BYU Invitational

Over 95 schools came together to compete at the Mr. Mac/BYU invitational on Friday. Included in the crowed group were members from Emery, Green River and Pinnacle.

The Spartans showed what they were made of and picked up several points. Treven Brazier sprinted his way to first in the 300 hurdles. He also took second in the 110 hurdles and third in the 100 and 200 meter races. Jess Christiansen took third in the 3200 meter and fifth in the 1600 meter. In the end, Emery tied with Juab for ninth with 40 points and they were the top two 3A schools. Orem took it all with 78.5 points.

The Lady Spartans finished in 59th overall. Haley Guymon took fifth in javelin while Bethany Justice grabbed eighth in the 300 hurdles.

Landon Hardy had the best finish for Pinnacle, taking 17th in the 400. Lady Pirate Jeni Kenner represented Green River well with a tenth-place finish in javelin.

The teams will now get ready for its respective regional meets, which will take place this week. Carbon will host Emery and the rest of Region 12 on Wednesday.
