The Emery Spartans posted 13, first place finishes at the San Juan County Championship on Wednesday, finishing in the top spot overall.
The boys cruised to a first place finish with 185 points to second place Monticello’s 98.5. The Lady Spartans took second place with 104 points.
Sprinter Braiden Ivie took both the 100 and 200 meters. Ivie was .65 seconds in front of second place with a time of 11.00. He also was over two seconds in front of second place in the 200 meters.
Drake Hoffman also placed first in two events, the shot put (43-00.50) and the discus (124-06).
Emery dominated the boys’ 400 meters, taking the three top spots, led by Ty Funk, followed by Daeden Behling and Aidan Mortensen.
Chloe Sermon took home top honors in the 400 meters, as did Tiana Jensen in the 100-meter hurdles.
Mason Faimalo was first in the 110-meter hurdles. Cale Allred was next with a top showing in the 300 hurdles. Keldan Guymon also threw to a first place finish in the javelin.
Emery also placed first in the following team events: boys’ and girls’ 4×400 (boys’: Aidan Mortensen, Chase Christiansen, Bryar Meccariello and Ty Funk; girls’: Bethany Justice, Tayden Nielson, Tiana Jensen and Alejandra Garcia) and the boys’ sprint medley (Daeden Behling, Braiden Ivie, McKay Meccariello and Lance Chynoweth).
Other top three finishes in the meet:
Bethany Justice, second in the 100 meters; second in the 800 meters. Tayden Nielson, second in the 200 meters; second in the 1600 meters; second in the high jump. Megan Jensen, second in the 400 meters. Treven Brazier, second in the 110 hurdles. Cale Allred, third in the 110 hurdles; second in javelin. Griffin Livingston, second in the 800 meters; second in the 1600 meters. Bryar Meccariello, second in the 3200 meters. Chase Christiansen, third in the 3200 meters. Jaden Defa, third in the high jump; third in javelin. Chloe Sermon, third in the high jump. Keldan Guymon, third in the long jump. Landon Fairbanks, third in shot put; third in discus. Marquies Giroux, second in discus. McKenzie Cox, second in discus. Jojo Peterson, second in javelin. Boys’ 4×100 (Mason Faimalo, Daeden Behling, Treven Brazier and Braiden Ivie), third.
Emery will participate in the 2018 Carbon High Farm Bureau Invitational on Friday at Carbon High School.
