Competing against more than ten other teams, the Emery High girls’ and boys’ swim teams represented the black and gold at the Cedar Invitational Friday and Saturday.
The girls’ team walked away with 85 points overall, coming in behind hometown rival Carbon while the boys’ team walked away with a sixth-place finish overall and 131 points, coming behind fifth-place finisher Desert Hills High School.
Lady Spartan Katie Carter managed to finish strong in the 500-yard free, bringing home a tenth-place finish in the event. The girls’ 200-yard free relay also found victory for the Spartans as the team of Kaelee Kooley, Erin Oliverson, Tarryn Parkins and BriAnne Bass came in seventh.
The 400-yard free relay team managed to score a sixth-place finish thanks to the work of teammates Alexis Johansen, Bass, Oliverson and Katie Carter.
Spartan Garret Stilson managed to score in the top ten during his run in the 100-yard fly, coming in less than a second behind the eighth-place finish. Fellow teammate Daryl Guymon came in second in the 100-yard free, finishing in 52.85.
Keldan Guymon, Stilson, Deegan Minchey and Daryl Guymon put their collective foot forward as the 200-yard free relay team finished fourth.
Keldan Guymon returned in the 100-yard breaststroke, clinching an eighth-place finish for the Spartans.
Emery will continue its action Tuesday as the team hosts Grand, Richfield, Juan Diego and Summit Academy high schools in Castle Dale. The meet is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
