The Emery Spartans racked up 525 rushing yards in their 51-13 win over cross-county rival Carbon Friday night. Five different Spartans scored touchdowns on the night.
Emery running back Marco Mota rushed 16 times for 285 yards and scored two touchdowns. Mota has racked up 1,131 rushing yards in just six games on the season.
Carbon got on the board first on a Jarod Lessar 11-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to put the Dinos ahead 7-0. His points were the first scored by the Dinos in seven games. Emery bounced back on a 37-yard touchdown run by Mota. The Spartans led just 16-7 at half. Dallyn Mower scored the other touchdown for the Dinos.
It was the first game between the rivals since a 53-6 Emery win September 10, 2010.
Emery will play next Friday at Manti in the first round of the 3A Playoffs. The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 at 7 p.m.
