Tanner Gagnon’s spectacular special teams play was the difference in the Carbon High School football team’s 17-7 victory Friday over American Leadership Academy.
Gagnon recovered a blocked punt for a 10-yard touchdown and kicked a fourth-quarter field goal to seal the win.
ALA opened the scoring with a first-quarter touchdown, but the Dino defense stepped up and shut ALA down for the remainder of the game.
Dalton Nelson punched in a one-yard touchdown run in between Gagnon’s scores for Carbon’s only offensive touchdown of the game.
Carbon ran its record to 2-0 for first time since 1994 when the Dinos finished 6-4, bowing out to Uintah in the 3A Quarterfinals.
Carbon hosts Ben Lomond in a game that will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 at 7 p.m. on Friday.
