The Carbon Dinos football team will be set to make an impact with some key starters returning to the team. Senior Stockton Kennedy will continue as the Dino quarterback. Kennedy finished last season with 658 Passing Yards and three touchdowns.
The running back position will belong to senior Anthony Wilson. Wilson rushed for 365 yards, with 173 reception yards and 635 all purpose yards last season. On the defensive end, he finished with 22 tackles.
For the senior wideouts, Deagan Richards finished the year with 135 reception yards, 135 kick return yards and 277 all purpose yards. He also had 56 tackles on the defensive side. Joining him was wide receiver Eleke Long. Long finished the season with 17 receptions and 242 reception yards.
Rounding out the seniors, Kaden Vasquez finished last year with 38 tackles on the defensive end. Maddux Willson will have a big role as he begins his junior year. Willson was impactful on both ends last year, with 35 tackles and five sacks on defense, as well as 34 receptions and 345 receptions yards on offense.
The Dinos will have five pre-season games against some familiar opponents, including American Leadership Academy on August 16. ALA finished at 1-10 last year. They also face Grand County on August 23, who finished at 2-9 last season, Ogden on August 30 (5-7 last season) and Union on September 9. Cougars sat at 2-9 last year.
They will finish with the rivalry game on September 13. The Spartans ended their season at 6-4.
Following those games will begin the 3A South Region competition. The 3A South will definitely be the toughest region once again. Beginning with the runner up state champion Manti (10-3) on September 20, 3A state champion Richfield (13-0) on September 27, North Sanpete (2-9) on October 4, Juab (6-6) on October 11 and Canyon View (9-3) on October 18.
