In a press conference at the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office this morning, Sheriff Jeff Wood informed the media that 25-year-old Seth Gordon Peterson was booked into the Carbon County Jail on Wednesday evening on two counts of aggravated murder, one count of attempted murder, theft of a motor vehicle and failure to stop at the command of an officer.
Peterson was arrested after leading law enforcement on a short chase.
The victims have been identified as 45-year-old Susan Peterson and her son 23-year-old James Peterson, mother and brother of the suspect.
Sheriff Wood reports that there are more than three eye-witnesses to the crime that officers are gathering information from. There is currently no known motive. It is known that Susan Peterson was at the scene to pick up her son but is unknown at this time why her son was there.
Sheriff Wood reported that dispatch was called to the scene earlier in the afternoon, approximately three hours before the shooting was reported. Wood said officers at the time felt there was no threat.
