Law enforcement officers surrounded Castle Heights Elementary last Saturday evening during an intense training session.
Members of the Carbon County Sheriff Department’s SWAT team sharpened their skills during the realistic event. Complete with SWAT gear, weapons and mock intruders, the training simulated a standoff.
Students and parents were part of the training as well. Carbon County Chief Deputy Tom Stefanoff declared the training a success and explained that it is important for the officers to keep their skills fine tuned.
The elementary school sent out several messages to parents and local residents to inform them of the training event in order to prevent concern. Law enforcement vehicles converged upon the school grounds and heavily armed officers could be seen invading the building.
