In their second game of the week, the Dinos returned for a home contest with American Leadership Academy (ALA). To the Eagles’ credit, they played hard the entire game and stuck with Carbon for much of the first quarter. The Dinos then used a 10-2 run late in the period to take control.
Up 17-11 after one, Carbon ran out in front with 26 points in the second quarter and took a 43-21 lead into half. The Dinos never looked back as they took this one 76-49.
Carbon logged 37 rebounds while shooting 48 percent from the floor and 41 percent from beyond the arch. For the third straight game, four or more Dinos reached double-figure scoring. Merrick Morgan had another solid game and finished with 14 points, tied for a team-high with Caleb Winfree and Preston Condie. They were followed by Keenan Hatch with 11 points. Condie also led the Dinos with nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Although there were a lot of positives to take from the victory, there were certainly areas for improvement. Throughout the game, the Dinos committed a number of unforced errors, which led to 16 team turnovers. Those plays will need to be cleaned up as the Dinos (8-3, 1-0) resume region play.
