Students from Carbon, Emery, Grand and San Juan school districts along with Pinnacle Canyon Academy competed in the region spelling bee at Green River High School on March 4.
Spellers dueled through 15 rounds before Grange Simpson from Albert R. Lyman Middle School claimed the title of grand champion. Simpson will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington DC, May 25-31.
Finishing in second place was Kevin Park while Teddy Park placed third. Both students represented Grand Middle School and each received a $25 Amazon gift card as their prize.
