Jordan Scoggins, Sara Morley and Lindsey Blanc accounted for 44 of Carbon’s 55 points Tuesday night in the Lady Dinos’ home opening win over 4A Salem Hills. Scoggins led all scorers in the game with 17 points in Carbon’s 55-48 win.
Morley notched a double double in the game with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Morley snagged 14 boards and scored 10 in Carbon’s 54-51 win over Spanish Fork last week.
Blanc connected on four free throws in the final minute of the game to help seal the Carbon win. She finished with 13 points in the game.
After a slow first quarter, the Lady Dinos jumped out to a 19-7 lead on a Morley bucket at the 3:50 mark of the second. It was the biggest lead of the night for Carbon. The Skyhawks finished the half on a 13-6 run to cut the Dino lead to five, 25-20, at halftime.
Carbon extended its lead to nine, 42-33, by the end of the third on two straight buckets by Scoggins.
Salem Hills then chipped away at the Dino lead and got within one point with a little over two minutes to play in the game before Scoggins and Blanc shut the door on the Skyhawks from the free throw line.
Carbon (2-0, 0-0 Region 12) has beaten two 4A teams to begin the season and will now host the Emery Spartans (0-1, 0-0 Region 15) on Friday night in Price. The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 at 7 p.m.
