Carbon and Emery counties are fortunate to have hard working law enforcement branches in the area. This fact was highlighted during Wednesday’s regularly-scheduled Carbon County Commission meeting as Sheriff Jeff Wood took time to honor two of his deputies.
Deputies Zach Palacios and Mike Hrienson were recently both present at a difficult scene. On May 10, units were dispatched to 752 Molyneux Drive on a domestic call. Upon arrival, they were informed that a woman that was allegedly unable to leave the premises.
One subject, a male, ran from the deputies when he spotted them and locked himself inside a room in the house. After much deliberation, patience, teamwork and calls for back-up, Deputies Hrienson and Palacios were able to successfully extract the male from the room without him harming himself. It had been reported at the time that he was locked in a room with possible firearms.
The Sheriff’s Accommodation Award was presented to the duo, who in turn thanked Sheriff Wood, the commissioners and all others that were at the scene.
“Everybody did a great job to help resolve this issue and come out safely for everyone there,” Deputy Hrienson stated.
Palacios then thanked the sheriff and the commissioners for being acknowledged for what the deputies have completed. He also thanked the Price City Police Department for being on the scene.
“I’m just thankful that we all left safe,” Palacios said.
