Each month, Castle Heights Elementary School hosts an open library for all Castle Heights students and parents. The open library promotes the importance of reading and gives the students and parents a chance to become familiar with the library and all it has to offer.
This month, the USU Eastern basketball team arrived bright and early to read with students.
“This has become a tradition that the students as well as the players look forward to every year,” said AmeriCorps Reading Program Coordinator Aubrie Carpenter. “With players from all over the world, the students were exposed to many different accents as the players read to them. What an awesome experience for both the athletes and the students.”
The library was packed with students as the players took time to read books to one or more students at a time.
“We are grateful for coaches Vando and Warburton for their support,” Carpenter continued. “We thank the players for their commitment and example to the students. We can’t wait for next year.”
