The USU Eastern men’s and women’s soccer teams won three of four games over the weekend as both hosted Otero and Trinidad State junior colleges.

On Friday, both teams won by a score of 2-1 over Trinidad State. Youssef Mourchild and Taige Smith netted goals for the men’s team to help extend the team’s winning streak to five.

Kennedee Tracy and Nicole Scharman each scored for the women’s team against Trinidad, with Scharman’s coming in overtime for the game winner.

Then on Saturday, the #5 ranked Otero Junior College men’s team took on the Golden Eagles. Eastern was able to get two goals from Andrez Garza and another from Mourchild to run away with a 3-1 win. Otero’s Carter Magee and Omar Coronel were given red cards in the game.

The Lady Golden Eagles were blanked in their game against Otero, losing 1-0.

“We improved as the match went on but couldn’t find the equalizer,” coaches shared on social media.

The men’s team will travel to Ogden on Wednesday to take on the Weber State Club Team at 1 p.m. The women will then host Mesa State University’s club team on Saturday at 1 p.m. The men will play after at 3 p.m. against Westminster.
