Utah Highway Patrol Presents Carbon High With a Sizable Check

The Carbon School District (CSD) board welcomed Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) Trooper Jason Cosby to its Wednesday evening meeting for a special presentation.

This presentation was to Carbon High School (CHS), which was represented at the meeting by principal Chris Winfree and was in regard to the adopt a high school program. The past school year, the UHP and high school worked on this program together. Cosby stated through the program, there is a grant that allows monies to be given and he wished to present a check on behalf of UHP to CHS for $1,000.

Through the program, students were taught drivers ed and worked on safety presentations. The UHP also awarded popsicles to those students that were stopped wearing their seat belts, among other activities and teachings. The UHP plans to once again conduct this program through Emery High School. However, in the event that it does not work out, Winfree stated that CHS would be happy to once again host them.

Also during the meeting, a public hearing was opened regarding the upcoming bond election for CSD. However, there were no individuals present that stepped forward to speak. The board chose to kept the hearing open throughout the meeting while they worked through the other agenda items.
