The Utah Department of Environment Quality announced that the water quality and soil samples from the Carbon County oil spill on Highway 191 last Friday were recently received back from the lab.
It was reported that all of the hydrocarbon levels were below the state’s initial screen levels and the results were positive. They supported the conclusion that there was no significant contamination of the water or soil from the crude oil spill.
The department also shared a photo of a sample of the waxy crude oil that was taken from the spill, at room temperature, pictured above.
