Wellington City Councilmen hosted a public hearing Wednesday to approve a grant application for funds to repair and replace water and sewer mains throughout the City.
The requested amount was $1 million and would help cover approximately 5800 feet of pipe.
The project would include basic trench techniques and new pipe bursting techniques. Pipe bursting includes bursting existing pipes using pressurized water and inserting new piping into the existing space.
The technique was said to help maintain road surfaces and minimize safety risks and traffic impact.
