The 37th Annual USU Eastern Women’s Conference once again took place in the Jennifer Leavitt Center on Friday.
The convention ran from 9-3:15 p.m. and had a lot to offer all in attendance. There were numerous workshops and keynote speakers available, such as keynote speaker Connie Sokol and a workshop titled, Drug Abuse: Prescription Drugs, Meth and Marijuana.
Also available at the conference were numerous booths to peruse. Wellness Within, It Works! and Fitness World were a few of many provided.
Lunch was served at 1:30 and featured a type of build-your-own sandwich buffet that had croissants and your choice of chicken salad, tuna salad or ham salad. During lunch, the Woman of the Year was announced as Irene Everett. A few words were spoken of Everett, such as the fact that she can’t say no to helping the community in one way or another.
It was also stated that she will get her hands dirty for wheatever cause she is supporting and works closely with the Relay for Life, the chamber of commerce, Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country’s a Brush With Kindness and the board of realtors while maintaining a full-time job.
Everett was unable to be in attendance during the conference, so the award was accepted by her sister, Darla Huffman.
