Members of the community gathered on Friday and Saturday to take part in the annual Wellington Community Pioneer Days Celebration. “Communities Make It Happen” was the theme of the two-day celebration.

Festivities began on Friday evening as people gathered for a Dutch oven dinner at the Wellington City Park. Eric Dodge then entertained those in attendance with a concert. Dodge is from St. George and is known for his country music as well as his writing and speaking abilities. He has authored books such as “Baby Steps To Music Industry Success – “Making It” As An Independent Music Artist” and “Why Not Today? Face Your Fears and Chase Your Dreams!”

On Saturday, the Wellington Volunteer Fire Department kicked off a day full of events with a fundraiser breakfast in the park. For $5 a plate people could support the local fire department and enjoy a meal. Raffle tickets were also available for purchase by those in attendance.

Continuing the day, parade grand marshals Robert and Gayla Powell headed the annual Pioneer Days parade. The Powell’s and their five children as well as their families are longtime residents of Wellington.

Events also took place at the park throughout Saturday, including a horseshoe tournament, entertainment, food and vendor booths.
