Dinos Lose to Defending Champ Pine View, Slip to Loser’s Bracket

The Carbon Dinos’ 2-0 record in the 3A playoffs took a hit Thursday afternoon, losing to defending 3A champion Pine View 12-6 in the quarterfinals in Kearns.

Cole Fossat went deep for the third straight game, bashing a three-run homer in the top of the seventh. Jayden Flemmett and Anthony Maclean each had an RBI. Fossat took the loss on the mound as he gave up nine runs, five earned, in five innings. He struck out four batters in the game. Zac Bradley pitched the final two innings, allowing three runs on three hits.

Carbon will take on Dixie after the Flyers upended Desert Hills in the 4:30 game on Thursday. The game between the Flyers and Dinos will be played Friday morning at 11 a.m. at Gates Field in Kearns.

Carbon would need a win against Dixie and two additional to be announced opponents to secure a spot in the 3A championship game on Saturday.
