The Emery High Spartans hosted the (7-1) Grantsville High Cowboys on Friday night.
The Cowboys scored a quick 21 unanswered points to began the game. The Spartans then responded with a touchdown of their own on a 39-yard Jaymes Bowman reception from Kyson Stilson.
The Cowboys and Spartans then traded touchdowns until the Cowboys increased their lead later in the third with two more touchdowns. In the end, Grantsville’s Parker Thomas was too much for the Spartans as he finished with 259 yards on 16 carries and five touchdowns.
The silver lining in this one was that this young Spartan team was able to finish the regular season and send their seniors off with a team high in points for the season with 22 in a 56-22 defeat.
Emery will begin the playoffs on Wednesday in Nephi against Juab High School (5-4) at 5 p.m.
