October was celebrated by many on Helper City’s Main Street with First Friday, featuring the theme of Oktoberfest, including lederhosen, brews and more.
Venturing up and down Helper’s historic Main Street, attendees were pleased with the plethora of fall-themed activities and First Friday staples such as the bounce houses, booths and food vendors. New this month was the Polka Band, lederhosen contest and yodeling contest.
At 7:30 p.m., there was also a special presentation on the stage erected on Main Street. This presentation was by Helper City Mayor Lenise Peterman and T-Mobile to celebrate the $50,000 grant that the city received. These funds will be used for improvements and the beautification of the historic street.
“Helper City was thrilled to host T-Mobile staff to present the $50,000 award from the Hometown Grant Program during First Friday,” shared Mayor Peterman. “Even more amazing was to be one of 25 communities selected from across the U.S. for this funding. We can now finish our dark sky lighting efforts for new lights, update lights on the south end of main, and spread our design elements along all of Main Street to create a cohesive look and feel throughout the business area.”
Representatives from T-Mobile were present to hand the large check over to Mayor Peterman. The mayor then invited all in attendance to enjoy the amenities provided, including a small grab bag, cake, bottles of water and more.
Those that might have missed the fun of October’s First Friday should not fret as there will be another chance to experience the hometown fun. November’s First Friday is expected to take place on the city’s Main Street once more on Nov. 5.
