Emery County Commissioners Address Several Matters at Regular Meeting

Emery County Commissioners met on Tuesday morning to discuss various items at their regularly scheduled meeting.

Initially, the commission was approached by Marvin Reynolds from BER Advisors. Reynolds spoke with commissioners regarding different investment options the company can offer county employees. The independent marketing firm wishes to expand saving options available for county employees.

Plans from BER Advisors have a guarantee of principle and there is no cost to the county to administer a plan. The company would set up the plan, employees could take part in the plan and employees would benefit long-term. Employees can even transfer funds to a new plan if they happen to stop working for Emery County. After some discussion, commissioners decided to approve the proposal from BER Advisors in order to give employees more options for saving for the future.

The new Bureau of Land Management Price Field Manager also introduced himself at the event. Ahmed Mohsen recently became field manager after his many years of work with the BLM. Mohsen expressed his excitement at working as the field manager for Price and is looking forward to working closely with counties to manage land in the area. Mohsen plans to have an open door policy between county officials at the Price BLM office.

Finally, commissioners agreed to cancel the commission and LBA meetings that were scheduled for Nov. 11. Due to Veteran’s Day, commissioners felt it would be best to cancel the meetings. A commission meeting will take place on Nov. 25 at 9 a.m. at the Emery County Courthouse.
