Authorities were paged to an accident on Highway 6 at 11:17 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred approximately six miles east of the East Carbon junction near mile post 262 on Highway 6. Traffic was at a complete standstill while crews assessed the scene.
According to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Bradley Shaw, the accident occurred in a construction zone on the highway. One lane of travel was at a stop while the other was slowly being directed around construction. A driver in a vehicle hauling a trailer in the lane that was at a standstill drifted into oncoming traffic, striking an oncoming vehicle before hitting into a stopped vehicle in the other lane. Between the three vehicles, six occupants were involved in the incident.
According to trooper Shaw, a 14-year-old suffered a broken hand in the accident but no other injuries were reported. The juvenile was transported by ambulance to Catleview Hospital. Every occupant was wearing a seatbelt.
According to Shaw, the highway was closed for a period of time while crews cleared the scene.
