Kathy Jensen has been making her own candles for over 40 years now. She got the idea to make her own broken glass candles when she saw one similar that a relative had. Not long after Jensen made her first one, friends and family started asking for the broken glass candles as well. She then decided to make a business out of it. In 2009, Jensen opened her business in her own home in Helper at 724 Castle Gate Road, and is still open to this day and takes orders by appointment. Beauty and Scents is company owned, has unique gifts and has patented designs. Since she did so well at her Helper location, she decided to expand her business and open a shop in Price, which is located at 375 South Carbon Avenue, Suite 151 (East entrance across from the Food Bank) The hours for the shop in Price are Tuesday through Thursday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. 1 p.m. To order Avon or a broken glass candle call 435-637-5032 extension 707 or 801-814-2440.
“I’ve had a pretty good turnout. Besides the candles, I also sell Avon products that are sold in my Price store, which I have also sold for years,” Commented Jensen.
Jensen opened her business at the BTAC in Price on May 1 of this year. When she first opened, she had a grand opening. She now does over 100 different designs for her candles, and does anything from animals, sports, Disney, cartoons, Betty Boop, picture frames, nostalgic victorian, music, dance, western, flowers, profession, seasonal, baby showers, cheerleaders, rainbows, drinks, ocean life, Harley Davidson and many more. She also does special orders for those who prepay which include, weddings, breast cancer survivor and house warming gifts.
PEOPLE WHO ARE ALLERGIC TO FRAGRANCES, OXYGEN, OR ARE IN AN APARTMENT COMPLEX WHERE THEY CANNOT HAVE CANDLES, SHE HAS CANDLES THAT ARE VANILLA SCENTED, UNSCENTED, OR BATTERY OPERATED AND WILL GIVE IT THE SAME EFFECT.

Jensen has donated key chains for the domestic violence, and candles for the relay for life and autism awareness.
“I usually have a new idea, and new design every year. My new one this year is a candle designed with a picture or name of someone they have lost in death,” Commented Jensen.
