The Castle Dale Fire Department hosted an open house on Aug. 22. Firefighters welcomed the public and allowed residents to walk through the firehouse. Children were given the chance to climb on equipment and spend time with volunteer firefighters. Several firefighters allowed their own children to climb in the fire trucks and try on gear.

Many children were given the chance to see what it is like to breathe through a self contained breathing apparatus. They also sat by the deck guns and strapped in the back seat of a fire truck while gaining a fun life experience.

Members of the fire department grilled up hamburgers and hot dogs for the hungry crowd. All in attendance had a great time and a lucky few even walked away with prizes.
