Dino Girls and Spartan Boys Win in Dual Swim Meet

Emery's McKade Hansen swims his way to victory in the 100 Butterfly

Head-to-head competition between Carbon and Emery High schools is always an anticipated match up in any sport. It is the same for swimming.For the second time this year, the schools competed against each other in a dual meet. This time, the match up was in Price, but the outcome was similar to the meet in Emery. The Carbon girls won 88-72 and the Emery boys were victorious 97-73.

Highlights from the meet included Carbon’s Britney Willson winning the 100 free in a time of 1:01.62. Swimming the 100 under 1:02 has been a long time goal of Willsons who is a senior at Pinnacle. She was happy to reach the target in front of a home crowd.

Willson also won in the 50 free. Dino Joel Garff easily won the 50 free for the boys with a 23.95. He was fastest in the 100 free as well.

For Emery, Kayden Perkins took top honors in the 200 free with a time of 2:22.42. McKade Hansen took the 100 fly in 1:13.52. Laryssa Guymond also garnered a first in the 100 breast stroke with a 35:33.

Both teams are winding down their seasons and preparing for regional qualifying meets coming up in February.
