After starting the season on a three-game winning streak, the Dinos hit a snag on the road over the weekend. They faced American Leadership on Friday and were sluggish early and trailed 36-19 at halftime. Carbon was not able to overcome its slow start and was handed its first loss of the season, 68-55.

Kaleb Nelson had 17 points and seven rebounds in the game while Preston Condie ended with 12 points and eight rebounds. The Dinos shot 30% on the night and 27% from the three-point line.

At Judge Memorial on Saturday, Carbon again got off to a slow start. The Dinos were down 14-8 after the first quarter before they came alive. They outscored the Bulldogs 16-6 in the second period to take a 24-20 lead into halftime. Judge Memorial dominated the second half, however, and went on to win 62-44.

Keenan Hatch led the Dinos with 14 points followed by Brady Gagon with 10. Nelson pulled down nine rebounds but was held in check on the offensive end. Carbon’s poor shooting continued as it connected on 27% of its attempts from the floor and 20% from beyond the arc.

The Dinos (3-2) will look to rebound on Tuesday when they take on South Summit (2-4) on the road. Then, on Friday, Carbon will welcome Delta (2-4) into town. The latter game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 and online at etvnews.com/livesports.
