Game 1
USU Eastern remained on the road this week as they traveled to Ephraim, Utah for a four-game series against Snow College. The lady Eagles emerged victorious in game one securing a 7-6 triumph over the Badgers.
Eastern’s stat leaders stood out delivering crucial plays throughout the game. Notably, Cambrie Jensen’s clutch hitting and Gia Bruno’s powerful bat proved to be the game-changers at crucial moments in the game.
Snow College took an early lead in the first inning, but Eastern quickly responded with two runs in the second. Micaela Resler, Paige Herbon, and Cindy Martinez provided solid contributions at the plate and from the field. Snow College fought back, scoring two runs in the bottom of the third inning to take the lead once again but Eastern wasn’t willing to back down, as they mounted an offensive assault in the sixth inning.
Bruno’s home run and Jensen’s timely hits drove in a combined five runs, swinging the momentum in USU Eastern’s favor. Brinley Johnson also had a stellar performance with a crucial double.
In the pitcher’s circle, Addison Hess held off Snow College’s potent lineup to secure the win. The Lady Eagle’s composure and focus saw them through the thrilling encounter and pulled of the 7-6 victory to open up the series.
Game 2
In the second game of the doubleheader, Snow College evened up the day with a 9-1 victory over the Lady Eagles.
Although Eastern battled, Snow College’s relentless offense proved to be the difference-maker in the matchup. Saige Ewing led the charge for Snow College from the pitcher’s circle, stifling Utah State Eastern’s bats and allowing only one run throughout the game. Utah State Eastern managed just one hit in the entire game by Cindy Martinez with a solo home run.
Brinley Johnson took the loss from the mound for the Lady Eagles battling through four innings.
Game 3
The following day as the series continued, Eastern’s struggles continued against the Badgers as they faced a 9-0 defeat.
Utah State Eastern managed only six hits in the game, with Brinnley Anderson leading the charge with a solid 2-for-2 performance at the plate. However, they were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
Pitching duties fell to Maddy Jennings, who faced a tough outing against Snow College’s offense. Jennings battled for just over an inning before being relieved by Jenna Thorkelson and Brinley Johnson, with Snow College managing to capitalize on scoring chances early in the game, setting the tone for their victory.
Game 4
Eastern put up a valiant effort in the series finale against the Badgers but ultimately fell short in a 5-4 loss.
Brinnley Anderson and Brooklyn Gramse were key contributors for Utah State Eastern, with Gramse’s powerful home run and Anderson’s aggressive baserunning highlighting their impact on the game.
Cambrie Jensen also made her presence felt with a crucial home run, helping to keep the Lady Eagles competitive until the final inning.
From the mound, Addison Hess pitched six innings but despite her determination, Snow College managed to capitalize on scoring opportunities, ultimately securing the victory.
