The Eagles made an early visit to Emery High on Tuesday, moving up their scheduled trip by a week and a half. Monty Christiansen (106) started things off for Emery with a pin. Byron Christiansen (132), Tyrell Guymon (150), Tyler Stilson (165) and Hayes Dalton (190) all followed suit with a pin of their own.
Other Spartans won by forfeit, including Hayden Christiansen (113), Gregory Suwyn (175), Maddex Christman (215) and Easton Thornley (285). In the end, Emery won the duel 54-27.
The Spartans were back on the mat in Roosevelt on Thursday, and once more Emery started off strong. Monty, Sid Christiansen (113) and Merritt Meccariello (120) all won by pin. Byron added to their lead with another pin, and then Union won a couple of matches to tighten things up.
Alex Mesler (157) got Emery back on track with his pin while Stilson won by decision. The Spartans went on to dominate the upper weights with wins by pins from Suwyn, Dalton, Christman and Thornely. Emery ended on top over Union 57-19.
Up next, Emery will host Maple Mountain on senior night and alumni night on Tuesday at 7 pm.
