The Museum of the San Rafael hosted its third annual Family Day on Saturday to celebrate Utah Archaeology and Historic Preservation Month. Counties throughout Utah celebrate the month by holding events for their communities with free activities that bring awareness to Utah’s important legacy.

The staff at the Museum of the San Rafael feel Family Day is important to Emery County because it brings people into the museum and gives them the opportunity to talk to professionals who care for our rare and historically valuable past.

The days activities included fossil making, face painting, fossil digging, cave painting, weaving, booths by The Bureau of Land Management, Cleveland-Lloyde Dinosaur Quarry, and the U.S. Forest Service. There was also a coloring contest for the kids and the winners will be announced in two weeks.

The Museum of the San Rafael would like to thank all the people who volunteered and helped make this day possible. They would also like to thank Coca-Cola for donating the drinks for the event.

The museum will host a free Desert Tour on the 28th of May. For more information, contact the Museum of the San Rafael at (435) 381-3560 or check out the event on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/events/882193578573295/
