During the Helper City Council meeting that was hosted on Oct. 5, council members discussed a possible resolution to cancel the election slated to take place in November.

Helper Mayor Lenise Peterman explained that the current Helper City Public Works Director, Mike Mastin, has accepted a job that will take him out of the state and, given that it is past time for a write-in, the city cannot fill that position until seeking new council in Jan. 2024.

The resolution would certify that John Serfustini and Ed Chavez declared their candidacy for the open seats and were unopposed. Thereby, they were declared to be elected for the seats that are to become open.

This resolution was approved the council following a brief discussion.
