The Carbon Lady Dinos golf team took home second and third place finishes while playing at Soldier Hollow Golf Course last Wednesday.
The 18-hole tournament, played at the hosting state tournament site, was played as two, nine-hole matches. Juab had a triumphant win on both sides, coming out on top with scores of 125 and 116 points. The Lady Dinos placed second on the front nine with 88 and third on the back with 89. North Sanpete then took a third on the front at 86 and second the back with 100 points. These results mean that the Lady Dinos still hold second place in the region.
Lexi Garcia led the team with 25 points on the front nine. Indie Gardner and Keely Marquez each had 22 and Laini Davis came in with 19 points. Garcia also scored the most points on the back nine with 24 points. Keely Marquez finished with 23, Laini Davis with 22 and Aubrey Fausett had 20 points.
“I am pleased with what the girls did at Soldier Hollow,” said head coach Kenji Otani. “We went there to learn a physically challenging golf course and compete. We hit some great shots and we hit some unbelievably poor shots, but we are starting to execute the good more often. Sometimes, just sometimes, double on a par four is okay when you hit six good shots.”
