The Natural Resources Conservation Service, Canal Company and Emery County will be joining forces for a refurbishment of Millsite Dam to bring it up to state requirements.
This refurbishment has been sought for the last ten years, and approval and funds have finally made it possible. A representative from the NRCS was present at a recent Emery County Commission meeting to discuss with the county and receive needed approval. The county is being sought as a fiscal agent to disperse the funds for the project.
This refurbishment will affect both Millsite Golf Course and Millsite State Park. Approval has already been received from the state park. The project will raise the dam, improve the spillway, strengthen the foundation and help to make the dam more earthquake resistant. The $25 million upgrade is scheduled to begin July 2016.
