Thirteen errors led to 12 unearned runs Friday afternoon in the Emery Lady Spartans’ 12-6 loss to the San Juan Broncos in Castle Dale.
Despite committing so many errors, Emery out hit San Juan soundly, notching 15 hits to the Broncos’ four. Jessica Mason led the Lady Spartans with four hits, including a triple and three singles, while notching two of the team’s five RBIs. Jacie Huntington went 3-3 and Addy Healy added two hits in four at-bats with a double and a single and two RBIs.
Bailey Huggard and Ashlun Clark split the time in the circle, with Huggard and Clark both only allowing two hits apiece. All 12 runs scored by San Juan were unearned. Clark was credited with the loss.
Emery then participated in a tournament in Payson on Saturday, nothing a 10-4 loss against 4A Timpanogos.
The Lady Spartans (5-8, 0-2 2A East) will host Gunnison (10-7, 2-2 2A East) on Tuesday and will then square off against Duchesne (7-2, 4-0 2A North) at home on Wednesday.
